:: a garland for our tree. cedar ate while i strung ::

:: we made dough ornaments last night ::

:: tree and owl. doughy goodness ::

:: star and camel. made by cedar ::

:: my favourite, little hedgy peppercorn ::

wanna make some too?
2 cups flour (pastry, whole wheat, rye, etc. but if using rye be sure to mix with some wheat flour)
1 cup salt
3/4 cup water
mix, knead, create!!! if they are for hanging on the tree, insert half of a paper clip at the top, to allow for threading. air dry (takes a long time but it's the ecological route) or slow dry in oven: start at 170 degrees F and increase to 200 degrees after a few hours, then to 250 degrees after a few more hours. baking time depends on the thickness of the ornaments, so check on them often to avoid burning. to brown (optional), coat with egg white or sugar/honey water towards the end of the drying process and bake at 300 degrees or higher and monitor closely. then cool, thread, hang on tree, and enjoy! it's a great christmas project for little folk.

What a fun project! I'm certain I did this as a child, myself! Thank you for sharing the recipe!
Those are the cutest dough ornaments I've ever seen!
Nice pictures! and what fun, should make some with Lief, he'd love to get his hands in the dough. Don't think the result will be nearly as perfect, but then what do you expect from a 14 month old... thanks for sharing the recipe!
